There is a huge variety of 'honey pots' around, but all too often they turn out to be a jam or marmalade pot.
The perfect. puritanical collector only collects pots which feature a bee or beehive, the word "Honey" (in any language), or pots in the shape of a beehive, or if you are really lucky, a bee.
Some collectors expand their collection to include bears. Due to the increasing rarity of honey pots, the classic hunter of honey, the bear, is now proving a valuable addition. See my collection of bear pots.
WHERE CAN I FIND MY POTS?
Car boot sales, jumble sales and charity shops prove to be the ideal place to find a "bargain", as well as Antiques and flea markets - a little more pricey!
Recently I was fortunate to be able to buy about 50 honey pots from a local auction house - very rarely a collector may sell off or downsize their collection - check out your local auction house.
A very popular place now to add to your collection is Ebay - an internet auction site. There are other sites now trying to do the same, but Ebay appears to be the safest and best established one. Some bargains may be found - just be sure that you read descriptions carefully and allow for postage and packing when bidding. On the whole I have had favourable dealings on Ebay; very occasionally a pot has arrived damaged, but the seller has refunded my money, or sent a replacement.
